Hypermobility and Low Back Pain

Could you address low back pain issues related to specific conditions such as hypermobility and myofascial pain syndrome? They are so closely connected and sometimes therapy helping one problem exacerbates the other. If physical therapists are not really well versed and experienced with some of these other conditions their treatments often make things worse.  Due to this experience I’ve become very cautious about various treatments/methods.

As you should be, Ellie!

Hypermobility: The Gokhale Method is a wonderful aid for this! We teach you how to find your healthy neutral posture, how to strengthen your muscles to support that posture, and how to protect your body in a way that won't hypermobilize your joints or engage the wrong muscle for the job.

Myofascial pain syndrome: You will want to approach the changes very slowly so as not to over-tax your muscles. You may also want to seek theraputic massage while you take the foundations course. As long as you are able to strengthen the your muscles (and correlated fascia) for walking, bending, and sitting, I suspect you would benefit from the Gokhale Method.
